Thank you Very Much for registering your copy of the CTS Serial Port
Utilities.
--- Special Announcement ---
We are now offering support in a CompuServe forum! We are located
in the Benchmarks and Standards forum in the Diagnostics section.
On CompuServe, GO BENCHMARK and join us in the Diagnostics
section.
PLEASE HELP! Our telephone area code has been changed!
If you see a version of the CTS Serial Port Utilities on a BBS or
online service that is older than Version 3.3, then please upload
the file CTSSPU.ZIP from the SHARE-ME directory on your
distribution diskette. A form letter to send along to the BBS SYSOP
is included!
There is an update to the User Guide included in the file
VERSION3.DOC. Please review it carefully!
Your registered version of PortInfo has several additional features.
Perhaps the most useful is a capability to analyze the Windows SYSTEM.INI
file to make sure that the Windows setup matches what is really used by
your serial ports. PortInfo verifies that the port address and IRQ
are properly set. You will need to tell PortInfo where to look if Windows
is not installed in "C:\WINDOWS" - see the help screen (PortInfo /?) or
the User Guide for details.
This feature is also included in the BIOS_FIX utility! This allows
BIOS_FIX to verify that your Windows setup is accurate each time the
computer is restarted - a fast and easy way to make sure that your setup
hasn't been changed by some gremlin!
PortInfo will display your modem id commands if you use the command
"/ModemID". This can be useful if you are trying to get support from
another software vendor for your modem.
You might want to take a few minutes to review the bonus utilities
included with your registered version. The MouseON and MouseOFF utilities
allow a modem and a mouse to co-exist on a single interrupt (under DOS)
without locking up your machine. The user documentation for the "mouse
utilities" is in Appendix A.
If you have the Professional license, then you also have the Find_COM
utility for locating serial ports at any address. Find_COM is documented
in an addendum to the User Guide.
If you have the Professional PLUS version, then you also received
SwapIRQ(tm) and PortFix. The SwapIRQ and PortFix User Guides are
included on the distribution diskette.
Again, I thank you for your support of the SPU. If you need assistance
with the SPU, or have a problem or suggestion for improvement,
please don't hesitate to contact me via one of the ways listed below.

P.S. - We are investigating a new set of modem diagnostic and control
utilities for release in late 1995. If you have any suggestions for tools
or tests that you would like to see included, be sure to contact me. You
can also volunteer to be a beta tester if you have the interest, time,
and a CompuServe, America Online or GEnie account.
